I am suffering from a severe gastric infection. Should I also do tests for any particular disease to rule out the possibility of any other infection?

A severe gastric infection requires hospitilization. I doubt this is what you have written about. At any rate, you should see your doctor if you have not done so already.
Have a fecal leukocyte test, and test for Ova and parasites. Possible CT to look for fat stranding and diverticulitis, etc.
Hi there,
I thank you for the question, and in the same time I would like to know, how do you know that you have a severe gastric infection? Nevertheless, a gastric infection is usually caused by Helicobacter pylori, which is a bacterium that by invading the lining of the stomach and duodenum produces a cytotoxin which causes chronic inflammation that lead to ulcer formation. If you have been experiencing a dull or burning pain in your belly, especially when your stomach is empty, particularly after the middle of the night, and that, after you eat, drink milk or take an antacid, gets better, also you get some other signs such as, bloating, burping, nausea, vomiting, not feeling hungry-then most likely you got ulcer. Be aware of WEIGHT loss for no clear reason too.
Tests that can help to find the reason of the stomach infection can be discussed with your doctor, such as: test of your blood and stool, Urea breath test, gastric endoscopy-where a biopsy is taken to check for malignant cells and H. Pylori, Faecal occult blood test etc., etc., and if need be, other tests that your doctor will discuss with you, depending in previous findings.
Schilling test and test ph metry and Helicobacter Pylori.
