Should a disability advocate attend all of our meetings with son's school?

My son goes to public school and has muscular dystrophy. He doesn't yet need a wheelchair full-time, but it's going to happen eventually. However, when we bring concerns up to his school, like not having a railing in their handicap bathroom, we feel disregarded. Do you think that we should have a lawyer or disability advocate to attend all of our meetings with the school? We just want my son to get the help he needs.

A doctor's note might help get the ball rolling. You may need an attorney or advocate in future if the school is not accommodating.
Yes an advocate will be helpful particularly during individual education plan meetings. The law requires that school provide special needs about railing and other accommodating issues for the handicapped such as in your case.
