“Should I consider massage therapy?”
I have really bad pain in my lower back and I'm in my third trimester of pregnancy (Yes, I'm almost there!). Should I try massage therapy to relieve the pain? Is it a safe option?

Well first, Congratulations!
Yes, massage is a safe effective way to relieve that pregnancy related tension! Always make sure you tell your therapist before hand and make sure they are prenatal certified. The reason for the extra certification is that there are different positions that could be damaging and certain spots your therapist shouldn't massage. I love prenatal massage and have been doing it for 8 years.

YES! Massage therapy is wonderful for pregnancy. Just make sure you go to someone with experience because there are more contraindications where certain things can be dangerous. You will have to be sidelying or in a special pregnancy table with a hole for the belly. Massage therapy would do you wonders!
I would see a doctor of osteopathic medicine. The usual cause of pain in pregnancy is pelvic unleveling secondary to the large uterus. They can show your partner how to treat this at home since it will constantly occur until delivery.
You could try a chair massage if that helps. Lying down flat on your back is difficult in the third trimester and will get worse as you go further towards your due date. Also, you could pass out if you lie due to compression of huge blood vessels on your right side. The things which might help you with your back pain include:
-Heat packs
-Tylenol, if needed, sometimes it helps
-Stretching exercises
-Prenatal yoga
-Staying active in general, 15-minute walks 3-4 times a day
Good luck with your delivery!
