Should you brush your gums when cleaning your teeth?

I am a 19 year old male. I want to know should you brush your gums when cleaning your teeth?

You should brush the junction where the teeth end and the gum or gingiva begin. For the upper teeth it should be a soft downward circular stroke. preferably with a sonic care toothbrush. The bottom is the same but with upward strokes.
With a soft brush, using circular motions as well as back and forth.
It is not recommend you brush your gums. Too much pressure in the wrong direction can lead to gum trauma and receding gum line. If you are concerned about your gum health and believe you should brush your gums, speak with your dentist about techniques you can use that will not damage your gum tissue.
