“My skin is darkening around my elbows. What could be the reason?”
I have dark skin around my elbows and my neck. This is only worsening with time and it looks so odd. Why is this happening, and what is the best course of treatment?

There could be several reasons. Eczema is one possibility. Acanthosis nigrans can be another reason. Hyperkeratosis is another. There are many different creams that can be used to help. See your dermatologist to help you.

Causes of darkening:
Pressure, like leaning on a desk
Friction, from scarves or jewelry
Insulin resistance in an overweight person
Post inflammation excitation of pigment cells, like following a rash from creams or perfumes
Contact with psoralen from limes, lemons
Excess sun in those areas
