Councelor/Therapist Questions Emotional stress

Can stress be the cause of my weight gain?

I want to start a family, but I'm having trouble conceiving. I'm under a lot of stress and now I'm starting to gain a significant amount of weight. Are these two correlated?

Possibly, get into counseling, stress can cause lots of problems. I have heard of couples that have had stressful jobs, one infact she is a doctor, husband is a judge, they decied to adopt a son and shortly afterward became pragnate. Now they have two sons that have birthday within 6 months of each other. They are very happy, they went on to adopt a second child 7 years later. She now has two older brother the same age and a dog! They are very happy....Get counseling for your stress and see what happens. It may be a very happy story. Think positive and happy thoughts, a little family may be in your near future!
Hi,

Thanks for your question. Yes, it is very possible that the stress you are experiencing from trying to conceive may be a contributing factor in you gaining a significant amount of weight. This sounds like an issue that could be explored and resolved with professional help. I suggest you seek therapeutic services to get support on how best to deal with the underlying stress.
I hope this is helpful!
