Sublingual pills?

I take bethanechol for a bladder that doesn't work well. Can I grind bethanechol up to a powder and take sublingually?

Bethanechol unfortunately doesn't work very well. It probably won't make a difference how you take it.
Bethanecholis used to treat certain bladder problems such as the inability to urinate or empty the bladder completely. Yes, you can if you cannot swallow pills.
You need to ask your pharmacist because some drugs have coatings that you should not crash.

Grinding the medication will help absorption, but will not change the overall outcome from the medication. Bethancol causes smooth muscle contraction, but in the bladder, it is often in a uncoordinated way. I don’t typically use this medication.
Never found cholinergic meds effective. Might use alpha blockers to relax bladder neck and allow better emptying... Intermittent self cath is always an option
