My son is 7 years old and is getting treated for anal fissures. What will be the effect of this in the long term?

My son is 7 years old and had anal fissures. We had to get him admitted urgently and he underwent surgery. He is now recovering but I am worried...what will be the impact of this in the long term?

Avoid constipation. Add a stool softener.
If the underlying cause is treated, he should improve. If he has chronic constipation stay on miralax and high fiber diet. But if he inflammatory bowel disease, the fissures may reoccur.
