“Do vitamin B12 shots cause derealization symptoms? ”
My son is 26 years old and has been suffering from Autism since childhood. For the last 5 years he has been prescribed vitamin B12 shots. He has suddenly been suffering from derealization symptoms. A friend mentioned that this could be due to the vitamin B12 shots. Is this true?

As a GI doc, this is not my area of expertise but I don't believe that disorder is related to vit B12 shots.
I am not aware of this effect.
I have never heard of Vit B12 shots do anything like this. However, some of the disorders treated by B12 may have something to do with it.
Please consult a neuropsychiatrist for your son's new onset of symptoms. They may or may not be related to his medications.
