Vivid daydreams

I have very vivid daydreams. I don't mean to do it but I often find myself lost in them instead of doing what I should be doing. What can I do to control this?

To control vivid daydreams, try mindfulness techniques like grounding exercises to stay present. Set specific times for daydreaming as a reward, practice redirecting your focus when distracted, and create structured routines. Reducing stress and getting enough rest can also help minimize their frequency and improve your concentration.
Set a timer to buzz ten minutes into the daydream. Perhaps psychotherapy may be useful.

day dreaming to this extent that you describe could be the symptom of a broader disorder including ADHD. I would suggest seeing your doctor to discuss it further and may want to be referred to a psychiatrist.
Vivid daydreams may or may not be significant depending on your age, your dietary habits, whether or not you are on medications prescribed or otherwise (cannabinol, ethanol, etc.), the length of time they have been going on, your family history, your general health etc. A basic health workup is the place to start. It would be good to know what causes the symptom that you are trying to control.
Should be evaluated properly for possible ADHD along with proper sleep study.
If you wish to curtail these daydreams, use cognitive-behavioral techniques. First, try saying stop, if ineffective, try thinking about something else. The most powerful is behavioral - do something that requires your full attention.
