“What are the risks of anesthesia?”
My son is 15 years old, and he will have surgery under general anesthesia. Are there any short term and long term side-effects and complications of anesthesia?

Short term are ussually post operative nausea and vomiting, allergies or side effects from medications including Malignant Hyperthermia which is rare (1:10000-15000) but well known reaction to inhaled anesthetics. Long term is very rare. Some possible complications are not related to the anesthesia itself but to the stress cause by the surgery (this is very rare on a 15 yo)
