“What are the symptoms of colitis?”
I think I might have colitis but don't want to get a colonoscopy. What are the colitis symptoms, and are there other ways to diagnose it?

For chronic colitis, a colonoscopy must be done because diagnosis requires a biopsy. Colonoscopies are quite safe so don't avoid one if the indication for it is strong.
There are different types of colitis. You need to see a gastroenterologist to get some preliminary testing first (if it is an infection you wouldn't need a colonoscopy).
It’s a very long discussion because colitis is a serious condition. If you really feel that you have it then please visit a Gastroenterologist to diagnose and treat properly.
Signs and symptoms of colitis may include diarrhea, often with blood or pus, abdominal pain and cramping, rectal pain or rectal bleeding, passing a small amount of blood with stool, urgency to defecate, weight loss and fatigue. If you think you may have any abnormality of the intestinal tract it is important to discuss the signs and symptoms with your physician, who may refer you for a colonoscopy.
