Pathologist Questions Staph infection

What are the tests to diagnose staph infection in my nose?

I'm 55, and my doctor believes that I have a staph infection inside my nose and suggested that I should get tested. What tests will be used to diagnose a staph infection?

The test is a culture of the cotton swab from your nostrils. Your healthcare provider can also test if you are a staph carrier in your nose. Staph infection can even lead to a life-threatening infection. Thank you.
They will stick a Q-tip apparatus up your nose and test for staph.
