I am a 44 year old male and I will have a CT scan with contrast. What are the side effects of contrast dye after a CT scan?

Only if you have a severe contrast allergy, which is VERY RARE now that they have non ionic media. I would do it.
Allergic reactions to the dye, but now the contrast is very low reactivity, so the odds of a severe reaction are about 1 in 1000, or less. If you are concerned, you can ask for pre-medication with IV steroids and benadryl.
