My 14 year old needed an x-ray and appeared to have an allergic reaction to the dye. I want to know what are the symptoms of an allergic reaction to contrast dye?

Typically hives, but can rapidly progress into anaphylactic shock. Reactions are usually mild. Please see the above link regarding Iodine-based contrast material.

A severe reaction is your throat swells and you can't breathe. Minor reactions include hives or nausea and vomiting.
Throat tightness and unable to breathe.
