I am a 29 year old female and I will have TMJ surgery. What can I expect after TMJ surgery?

That depends on the type of surgery. You will recover more quickly with less swelling from an arthroscopy than from a total joint replacement.
Unsure exactly of what surgery you speak of but I’d follow your surgeons / TM Dr.’s instructions closely.
