What can a CT scan of your brain detect?

I am a 50-year-old female. My doctor suspects I have a brain tumor and told me to have a CT scan. What can a CT scan of your brain detect?

The difference of tumor and normal cell density or absorption especially when using contrast.
Tumors and bleeding.
A CT scan of the head is able to detect brain tumors and is a good first step to see if there's anything else that needs to be done. It might give some clues as to the nature of a tumor, but further testing or even surgery may be required to determine the type of tumor. Take it one step at a time. It's normal to be anxious, but don't jump to any conclusions prematurely.

Tumors and mass lesions. MRI is better.
