Plastic Surgeon Questions Breast Augmentation

What can I do to increase my breast size after nursing?

I"m 32 years old, and I noticed that my breasts are now smaller after I stopped nursing. I also noticed that they aren't even. Should I consider a breast lift or augmentation to increase their size?

Hello, your breast size and degree of sagging, determine if you need only breast augmentation with an implant or breast lifting as well. If you have only a slight sagging, an inch, then a proper breast implant size should be enough to lift the breasts as well. The asymmetry can be repaired as well, depending on the degree of asymmetry, with the same procedures. You may also visit my website at DrRoya.com for further information.
The only way to increase breast size short of gaining weight or taking hormones, is a breast implant. A breast lift will raise the position of the nipple, which may have declined after losing breast tissue following childbearing and breast-feeding. This loss of breast tissue is called postpartum involution. For mild cases of breast lost with the breast remaining still quite high on the chest, an implant may be all that is necessary. If breast tissue loss is also associated with sagging of the breast, a lift is often combined with an implant. If there is asymmetry, a larger implant may be used on one side than the other to compensate for the imbalance.
Depending on the appearance of your breasts you may need breast implants of difference sizes to account for the difference in the size of your breasts and a breast lift if the breasts are sagging and your nipples are below the crease beneath your breasts.
It is difficult to answer this question for you based on your information. A full, in office consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon would be best for you to discuss you concerns and desires. A simple breast augmentation with an implant or fat transfer can help with increasing size. Sometimes an implant can also give you a mild lift. Implants can be adjusted to help correct asymmetry. Finally, a more aggressive type of surgery, such as a breast lift, may be needed to give you the most lift, with or without augmentation with an implant.
That is usually the procedure for deflated and saggy breast. But again a full evaluation is required to make that call
Depending on the present size of the breast you may benefit from and breast lift with or without an implant or augmentation with an implant only may give you the necessary volume and lift that you need. This can be determined only after an examination which included measurements.
Breast lift does not increase breast size, but rather changes their position and shape. To increase size, you would need breast implants. If there is a considerable size difference, implants of different sizes can be chosen to achieve symmetry. Quite often, these procedures are done together, meaning you would bet both a breast lift and implants.

You should wait at least 6 months to see where your breasts will stabilize. At that point, a plastic surgeon can determine if there is a volume deficit and/or sagging. For volume issues, an augmentation fares well. If it is sagging or combination of sagging and volume deficit than a mastopexy (breast lift) and augmentation is what you would need.
Good luck to you.
Yes, you may require a mastopexy with implants. I suggest you consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon.
The only thing that works permanently is an augmentation. You should have stopped nursing for at least 3-6 months before getting the surgery. You can have a complimentary consultation any time.
