OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Stomach pain

What causes sharp stomach pains during pregnancy?

I'm 4 months pregnant, and I've been getting strange, sharp stomach pain. They usually come and go, but they concern me. What could be causing them to happen?

If your pain is rhythmic, e.g., every 5-10 minutes, it could be contractions, then you should call your doctor to prevent a premature labor.
Could be you are developing an ulcer, but more likely coming from the change in position as your uterus increases in size, causing it to shift in location and sometimes causing problems with acid release and digestion. Let your doctors know so you can be directly examined and he/she can decide if further testing is warranted.

I am not sure that your pain is only pregnancy related. Please see your doctor about this in order to screen for something serious!
