“What happens if you move during an MRI?”
I am a 28 year old female. I want to know what happens if you move during an MRI?

The images get degraded when you move in the MRI. The best quality examination is when the patient can hold very still. When the patient moves, the images get blurry. If there is is too much motion, the technologist may have to repeat the exam.
Thank you for your question.
When you move during an MRI exam, the resulting images may be blurry and difficult for the radiologist to make an accurate determination. The technologist performing the exam will usually try to repeat the images which are blurry, if time allows. Each time a set of images is repeated, it may take 3 to 5 minutes longer.

You create artifacts which decreases the fine detail of the exam.
