What helps stop facial skin irritation?

I am a 27 year old male with dry and irritated skin. I don't really have acne issues. What helps stop facial skin irritation?

Usually removing the cause then treat the irritation
This depends on where on your face you get the irritation. Is it where you are shaving ? Is it on your eyelids? You will need to be a bit of a detective to figure out what touched the affected area. If all over, it may be that your soap is too stripping ( skip anything drying or antibacterial). If not successful, find a board certified dermatologist to help you.
Depends on the cause. Start with nightly moisturizer
Winter is a common time when patients report skin dryness and irritation due to the decrease in humidity. One of the best ways to prevent excessively dry skin is to moisturize with good skin products such as Cetaphil, CeraVe, or Aveeno immediately after bathing. If your skin is red and itchy sometimes a topical steroid can be used for a short duration of time to calm down the skin irritation.
Your best bet is to use moisturizing face washes and a nightly and daily moisturizer. The best moisturizer is our moisturizers that are non-comedogenic, meaning they do not cause acne. In general you should always check with your dermatologist if these simple and basic recommendations do not work.
