“What is the failure rate of dental implants?”
I've had a missing tooth for a while now (2 years?) and I think it's time to replace it with an implant. I'm unhappy with how my smile looks because my missing tooth is in the front. What's the failure rate of dental implants?

Failure rates are low for dental implants that are dependent on position in the jaw. Best to get a consult with an oral surgeon for options and failure rates
Dental implants are very successful in patients who have good home oral hygiene care and who are non smokers.
Every one is different. How do you take care of your own teeth. Do you floss and brush each day? Implants have to be taken care of. You floss and brush your implant like you should take care of your own teeth. Implants can get gum disease. The bone that was added to support your implant will slowly be desolvlng and your implant will loosen. It is hard to imagine that gum disease bacteria will slowly wear away the bone surrounding your teeth. Poor mouth care
overtime will lead to tooth loss and implants loosening. We see people who were told when they were in their 20's, 30's, 40's that they need to take care of their teeth. Flossing and brushing have to be done every day. If you don't take care of your teeth you will lose them.
When you go to your dentist, ask how you should be flossing and brushing. If you have any gum issues take care of it and get on a good home care routine. Implants are a good investment if they are taken care of.
