I personally don’t recommend mouthwash unless one has gum disease. I believe, if you brush, floss, and use a tongue cleaner everyday in the morning and night, it is sufficient.
Listerine, or Diluted hydrogen peroxide at about 1.5%
Chlorhexidine. It's a prescription rinse that you can get from your dentist.
Alcohol-free chlorhexidine, only available by prescription. Go see your dentist every 3 months and they will get you on the road.
No mouthwash is going to solve the problem of periodontal disease. You need the prescribed treatment from a qualified dentist or periodontist to properly treat and solve the disease process.
We usually prescribe chlorhexidine gluconate for use on the gums after gum therapy. It does have a tendency to stain the teeth after long time use so you may need to come in more often for the cleanings. This is usually something that you usually have to do during periodontal treatment so it shouldn't be an issue. The mouthwash alone will not take care of the periodontal disease.
