The best is usually an anti inflammatory and a narcotic for break through pain.
I think it would be wise to ask your treating dentist who knows your situation. Hope this is helpful Dr Satko

The best thing you can do to be comfortable after an extraction is to begin taking pain medication before the local anesthetic (Novocaine) wears off, and then to take it on a regular schedule for the first 2 days. Most people will be comfortable with over the counter medications like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen but please make sure you do not have any health conditions and you are not taking any other medications that may interact.

Keep the exterior area clean.
You will have to talk to your dentist. With the changes in distribution laws of narcotics, your doctor will prescribe what pain medication is best for you. You will be given a list of instructions to follow. Please follow them.
You can take an OTC pain killer like Motrin or Advil.
