What should I do for TMJ pain?

There's pain in the left side of my jaw and my doctor me that it has to do with TMJ. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the pain?

Anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxants.
Most TMJ is attributed to the patient's bite not matching the position of the joint. A well made night guard will greatly improve if not correct the TMJ.
There could be other underlying issues that are causing this situation for you. Getting rid of the pain may require some kind of appliance. There is not a simple answer. You would need to be seen by a dentist.
