What should you eat when you have mono?

My son is 13 years old and he was diagnosed with Mono. What should you eat when you have mono?

They usually have very bad sore throat so treating the pain with Ibuprofen will help with appetite as well. Usually cold liquids, smoothies and softer foods are easier to swallow so I would stick to those and make sure child drinks lots of liquids, such as water and electrolyte rich beverages.
Your son can eat anything he is able to comfortably swallow since throat pain is the biggest concern with mono. He should focus on keeping hydrated and drinking enough fluids especially water. As with any inflammatory process in the body, avoiding too much sweets is always helpful, as sweets can inhibit faster healing.
Best wishes! Your son has no restrictions on diet!! Just remind him to keep hydrated, and water is best.
