Speak to your doctor. That’s not something you want to mess with.
You may need to do nothing. Bulging discs are common after age of 20 and as we get older the frequency increases. All adults have bulging disc. Bulging disc may not necessarily be painful. But they can also cause pain and in that scenario treatment is recommended. Unless there is severe radiation of pain to the arms or legs the initial treatment is exercise and consulting of physical therapist or chiropractor.
Heavy lifting > 50lbs. Repetitive bending at the waist. Lifting from the floor to waist or overhead, like weight lifting.

Hope it helps!!

So I have a herniated disk for several years. Some back pain and episodic numbness is leg. So what you should do first. Avoid anything you find irritates your back or legs. Get in habit of daily back stretching, core exercises and progressive strengthening as pain allows. Avoid heavy lifting, jumping or anything that irritates back or legs. Therapy if needed. Good luck
Most people with bulging discs are asymptomatic. If you have any symptoms such as back pain or numbness and tingling in your legs, you should avoid any heavy lifting, pulling or pushing until symptoms resolve. You should take some anti-inflammatory medication such as Aleve or Advil and go to physical therapy for a few weeks.
I hope that you will feel better soon.
I would stay away from heaving lifting, bending or twisting. I would see a spine specialist to go over the degree of bulging disc.
