What will happen if a cavity is left untreated?

I'm 20, and I can tell that one of my teeth has a cavity. What happens if I leave it untreated?

If a cavity is left untreated it can ultimately lead to loss of the tooth. It is best to treat the cavity. The longer you wait the more tooth is destroyed and this can mean more expensive treatment required to rebuild the tooth.
Untreated decay will become more severe to the degree the nerve will die, abscess, and the tooth may be lost.
Every untreated cavity will eventually progress to need a root canal or tooth loss.
An untreated cavity will progress to the nerve of the tooth. Once the cavity hits the nerve, you will experience extreme pain and possible infection. At that point in time, the only treatment would be root canal or extraction.
Hi! Well, the cavity will grow bigger and eventually you’ll get pain and an infection. Also, if the cavity gets too big, you will need to have it extracted. Replacing a missing tooth is expensive and time consuming. It may also compromise your neighboring teeth. There’s nothing simpler, cheaper, and better than fixing your problem tooth now.
A cavity that is left untreated will progress to ultimately affect the nerve, cause pain and will require a root canal treatment. If the affected nerve is left untreated, it can lead to an abscess, and depending on the location of the abscess, serious consequences can occur, including closing of the airway, which is life threatening.
An untreated cavity will continue to get bigger and could endanger the nerve. You may then need a root canal. In worst case scenario you may lose the tooth.
