What would cause a change in focus and balance through the day?

My question is about my 62-year-old husband. Over the last several months he has become changed during the day. In the morning when he rises, he is the same old person that I’ve known for 40 years. As the day progresses, he begins to lose focus, balance and becomes more obsessive. He acts as if he is drinking alcohol. I know for a fact he is not drinking any alcohol. He does however drink about 8-10 oz. of apple juice watered down with several ozs. of water. If not apple juice, he will cut oranges and drop in his water container. He does this to flavor his water. He drinks about 30+ oz a day.

My husband is in average/good health and is retired as well as I. He does take meds to control his cholesterol and blood pressure. I have asked him to contact his primary care mgr, but whenever I try to talk to him about this, he denies anything is wrong. I am very concerned about his health. This is not normal. I have looked up his meds for side effects, issues with blood pressure and blood sugars. All without answers. What could cause this change in his behavior daily?

Complaint duration: Several months progression
Medications: Lisinopril 10 mg. Lipitor 40mg Aspirin 81mg OTC Centrum Vits
Conditions: Cholesterol and blood pressure management

Hello Madam,

These are difficult times. Specially for you as your husband's functioning is deteriorating during the day time. From what you are saying he appears to be in denial. What is his primary care physician's opinion about this situation? They would be more familiar with his history. Since I have not evaluated him, it would be inappropriate for me to give an opinion about what is causing his condition. My suggestion is for you to make an appointment for him with either a licensed neurologist, neuropsychologist or a neuropsychiatrist. You may want to ask his primary care physician for a referral. Of course, with CORONA 19, you will need to find someone who is providing virtual appointments unless they have ability and facility to see some one in person.
Take care and be safe.

He needs to see his PCP. He could be exhibiting some signs of Parkinson’s or Dementia. He could be suffering these and depression. He needs evaluated soon as these can be treated

Water intoxication? Unclear. Your husband needs to be evaluated by his physician. Preferably at a time of the day when the symptoms typically appear.

He may have reactive hypoglycemia. Balance and focus issues could cause a fall leading to worse issues. If he refuses to go to a doctor, at least have him drop the juices with sugars for a few days to see it the issue disappears (thus indirectly partially confirming reactive hypoglycemia). Then consult a doctor.
