Neurologist Questions Gelastic seizure

What could be the cause behind gelastic seizures?

My cousin was diagnosed with a gelastic seizure and our family is very worried since there were no symptoms beforehand. What could have caused this? And could this reoccur in the future?

Gelastic seizures are rare. Please see a neurologist for more answers.
The diagnosis must have been made by a neurologist. He must have explained this to your cousin. A galactic seizure is a seizure characterized by involuntary laughing and is rare. It is caused by an irritation of the brain. This could be anything from a scar to more serious disorders. Unless controlled, seizures usually recur. I presume he is in good hands & is being followed by a neurologist.
Condition called hypothalamic hemoratoma, a small vascular tumor of the center of the brain. It's benign- but can cause seizures. An MRI of the brain should of been done if not already to confirm such, seizures may reoccur.
