“After how many sessions of chemotherapy will cancer cells start dying?”
My mother has just started chemotherapy for her cancer in the uterus. She's already experiencing side effects, and I'm not sure how long I could watch her go through it. After how many sessions will the cancer cells start dying?

Chemotherapy implies drugs that cause cancer cells to die. When this happens our body starts biological actions that result in clean up of the dead tissue. The same thing happens if normal tissue is injured and dies. Chemotherapy effects are usually measured several weeks after administration of the drugs. It takes about eight weeks to be able to see the effects of the chemotherapy. I know that it is hard to have patience particularly when the drugs cause side effects. There are a number of additional drugs that can be prescribed to decrease the side effects and this should all be discussed with her doctor.
I would encourage you to have patience during treatment and try to get your mom through the chemotherapy. Good luck.
