Depends on ultrasound findings. If your lining of the uterus (endometrium) is more than normal & or your ovaries had abnormal findings, I am not sure why you are taking progesterone. Please review your question with your gyn physician.

Thank you for the question.
From your question you are post menopause. That said, why and for what reason are you taking progesterone? I would want to know. That said, progesterone thins out the uterine lining and presents a condition where individuals do not bleed since there is little or no uterine lining to shed. However, stopping or a change in the regiment of progesterone could lead to a withdrawal spotting or bleed. Any post menopausal bleed/spotting warrants a work-up. A pelvic Ultrasound is a good and cost effective modality compared to MRI to ascertain he uterine lining (endometrium). An endometrial sampling or biopsy is also recommended to rule out any underlying disease.
I doubt MRI could give you answers for postmenopausal vaginal spotting unless the pelvic ultrasound was abnormal. Please see your OBGyn and discuss this further before having an MRI.
