“Why are my gums still swollen from having my teeth pulled?”
I had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled 1 month ago, and my gums are still swollen. Why are my gums still swollen from having my teeth pulled? Should I go back to my oral surgeon?

You can go back to your oral surgeon. Are you still rinsing with salt water? If you had all four wisdom teeth extracted, your body is still healing those areas. Do you smoke? Are you doing mouth care at least twice a day? Salt water rinsing several times a day is soothing to the tissues and removes any food particles. Your body is doing its job. And salt water rinsing will help.
There are several different reasons for this. One possibility is there may be an infection (in the absence of pain, this is unlikely). You should have the oral surgeon who removed your wisdom teeth examine you.

Are you keeping the area nice and clean? Rinsing with saline solution helps. By now, the inflammation should have gone away. Have your dentist look at it to make sure the sites are not infected.
I would recommend going back to the oral surgeon. That is the best way to determine the cause of your swelling.
You should have your surgeon take a look at the extraction sites. You may have some residual infections that may need to be re-cleaned again. It does take the ginger or gum tissue about six weeks to close over the hole in the bone underneath takes 3 to 6 months to fill in.
