Why do I need a full body CT scan?

I am a 45 year old male. My doctor suggested me to have a full body ct scan. Why do I need a full body CT scan?

Don't do it, your doctor probably owns the machine...$$$$$ Get another doctor.
You do not need it. Often results in nonspecific findings and causes unnecessary patient concern. There are more important things to concern oneself with, such as how to combat global climate change, etc.
If you are asymptomatic with no significant medical issues, a full body CT scan is not considered necessary. A full body CT scan may be required for follow up of cancer or staging of a new cancer. As a general rule, when evaluating cancer, CT is fantastic for chest, abdomen, and pelvis, particularly with IV contrast. MRI is generally superior for the brain, spine, and musculoskeletal system.
They are a waste of time and money. Your doctor probably has a financial interest in the scanner. Run, don't walk, to another doctor.
A full body CT scan is performed if your physician is concerned about vascular disease such as peripheral artery disease, spread of cancer throughout the body or to evaluate for broken bones.
