“Why does my son have kidney pain?”
My son has pain in the area where his kidneys would be, on the left side of his body, and he also has a slight fever... like 99 F. What could this be?

It could be related to his kidneys or to other problems like infections. He should be seen by a doctor.

Hello. I recommend that you see a primary care provider and have your son examined. This could be a kidney infection or a stone. It could be from trauma or it could just be muscle pain from an overall viral syndrome. The only way to know for sure is for him to get a good physical exam, urine sample and possibly blood work depending on the exam.
