Neurologist Questions Migraine

Why is my 6-year-old getting migraines?

My 6-year-old is complaining about migraines, and it's a little concerning. Well, she's not calling them migraines, but they sure seem like that. She often cries when she gets them and sometimes they make her feel nauseous. Why is she getting these migraines at this age?

Is there a family history for migraines? They can start at any age. You need to speak with a specialist (child neurologist) to see if there are triggers, lifestyle changes to try, treatments, etc.
Children can get migraines, however, I would consult with a child neurologist about the need for an MRI scan and further management.
