When you lay down your spine is in extension and that can put pressure on the nerves in your back that will cause your hip to ache. Rule of thumb if the pain is in the groin region then it’s coming from the hip joint. If the pain is in the back of your hip or buttock region then the problem is in your lower back.
Given that you have provided no information on the location, character, or history of your hip pain this is a question that cannot be answered. That said, most people are able to suppress their pains during the day when they are busy and have things to accomplish. At night, when they finally try to relax for sleep, they notice that their bodies hurt. Try changing positions, taking NSAIDs, or doing stretches for the painful area.
