I am a 30 year old male. I was wondering why is very addictive medicine even prescribed?

because they are effective for the conditions they are intended to treat. If prescribed and used responsibly they are safe. It is when one party- prescriber or patient- act IRRESPONSIBLY that patient's go over to the dark side.
Addictive medication is a tool like any other and has risks and benefits. It's like asking why junk food is served when it is so unhealthy. Moreover, why do people eat it? Because it's fast, cheap, and very satisfying in the short term.
