Congratulations to These Ovarian Cancer Heroes!

Susan Leighton - Patient turned advocate

In 1997, Susan Leighton was diagnosed with stage 3C ovarian cancer. After undergoing and recovering from treatment, she co-founded Lilies of the Valley, a nonprofit gynecologic cancer support and awareness group, located in the Tennessee Valley. Leighton also pushed her efforts to Capitol Hill for funding. Currently, she is the national program director of the Survivors Teaching Students program, which is a program that is part of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance. “Wherever there is a need, she works to fill it. She is tireless, fearless and has touched many lives through her efforts on behalf of women with ovarian cancer,” said Regina Parker, executive director of Lilies of the Valley.
