Graduating with his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1982, Dr. Gallardo went on to complete his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the VA Caribbean Health System in 1985 and 1987, respectively. He completed two additional fellowships in clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the Georgetown University Medical Center in 1994, and at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center in 1998.
Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in cardiovascular disease, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Maintaining fellowship status, he is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), and is a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS).
