Born and raised in Egypt, from a family who was in the medical field, Dr. Gendi grew up with an understanding of promoting health and a desire to help alleviate suffering caused by disease. Medicine for her was a calling and studies were a long meditation and prayer. She learned that creation is precious, especially the human beings whom she sees as a big family all over the world.

She also volunteered as a general practitioner in a health center in Lebanon, when the need arose by the end of the war there.
