In his current capacity, Dr. Belalcazar also performs phacoemulsification cataract surgery at the Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, the North Miami Surgical Center, and the Palm Springs Hospital. 

Prior to his current endeavours, he performed thousands of radial keratotomy surgeries and cataract and corneal transplants at the Surgical Ocular Institute Palermo. He was also the Director of the Eye Clinic at the University Foundation of San Martin in Colombia, as well as the Medical Director of Vision Specialty Care for South Florida. A native of Colombia, Dr. Belalcazar received his medical degree there and completed his residency at the Colombian Institute of Ocular Surgery in Bogotá. He then underwent refractive surgery training at the world famous Instituto Barraquer de America in 1993, The Myopia Ocular Center in Madrid in 1996, as well as at Park Avenue Laser Vision in New York with Emil W. Chynn, MD in 2008.

Certified by the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates of Medical Examiners, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

Additionally, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, which is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
