Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Richard Krumdieck, who serves patients throughout the State of North Carolina.

With over 10 years of experience in the field of hematology and medical oncology, Dr. Krumdieck is an attending physician at Novant Health Cancer Institute, at their locations in Huntersville, Mooresville, and University City, North Carolina.

Likewise, he holds medical privileges at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, and Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

Earning his medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine in 1986, Dr. Krumdieck went on to complete his internship and residency in internal medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Later, he returned to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to complete his fellowship in hematology and medical oncology.

As a testament of his continued education, he is board-certified in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine by the the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Recognized as a Regional Top Doctor by Castle Connolly Magazine, Dr. Krumdieck has been the recipient of the Charlotte Magazine Top Doctor Award in 2021, and the Patients’ Choice Award in 2017 and 2018.
