Graduating cum laude from Rice University in 1979, Dr. Quintanilla earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1983. He completed his residency in family medicine at the McLennan County Family Medicine Program in 1986, and returned to the University of Texas for a residency in internal medicine. Finally, he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine. In the past, he held board certifications in both internal medicine and sports medicine.

In his professional experience, he can be found on staff at Memorial Hermann, St. Joseph Medical Center, Houston Methodist, and St. Luke’s Health. He also once held the position of Chief Medical Information Officer for ChristusHealth.

Emergency medicine, also known as accident and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of illnesses or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. An emergency physician works in an emergency department to care for acutely ill or injured patients on an unscheduled basis.
