Can surgery fix stomach ulcers?
Technically yes, although it is important to clarify where in the stomach the ulcer is located. It is different if it is a duodenal ulcer versus in the stomach itself. In general ulcers can be managed very effectively with medicines such as proton pump inhibitors and H2 blockers as well as life style changes- discontinuation of alcohol, caffeine, and NSAIDS as examples. More importantly if you have ulcers in the stomach itself it should be biopsied to ensure it is not cancer. READ MORE
How long does a colon biopsy take?
It depends on how good of a prep you do, how facile the physician is and how tortuous your colon is. The only thing you control is the prep so make sure you follow those directions completely to make the procedure more effective. In general this procedure can take anywhere from 20 min to over an hour. You will be sedated so it will feel like no time at all for you. READ MORE
