Get to know General Practitioner Dr. Lorrie Richardson-O’Neal, who serves patients in Hoschton, Georgia.
In practice since 1997, Dr. Richardson-O’Neal is a general practitioner with an emphasis on obstetrics, pediatrics, women’s health, mental health and counseling, as well as preventative and alternative medicine. She and her husband are the Founders of Anointed Hands Medical Services in Hoschton, Georgia.
Dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care, the couple base their success on their patients’ long-term good health. They believe in personalized care based on each patient’s health concerns.
A 1994 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Dr. O’Neal went on to complete her residency at the University of Illinois, Swedish American Hospital in Rockford. Thereafter, she went into a private practice and grew to be one of the largest family practices in the area.
Active in the Rockford Community, Dr. O’Neal served on the Board of Directors for Hands that Help, Inc. (a community development corporation), American Red Cross, and The Pregnancy Care Center. She was also the Founder of Project Restoration, a non-profit transitional housing for women, and a co-Founder of the Winnebago County Chapter of the National Medical Association, a minority physician organization. Moreover, she was a member of the Winnebago County Medical Society and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Rockford Alumni Chapter.
Very involved in ministry in Illinois, the doctor served as an Adult Women’s Sunday school teacher, a member of the Deacon’s Wives Association, the Vice President of the Missionary Board, and as an Instructor for and leader of the Young People Willing Workers and Young Women’s Christian Council.
The holistic approach of general practice aims to take into consideration the biological, psychological, and social factors relevant to the care of each patient’s illness. In the medical profession, a general practitioner is a medical doctor who treats acute and chronic illnesses and provides preventive care and health education to patients. Their duties are not confined to specific organs of the body, and they have particular skills in treating people with multiple health issues. They are trained to treat patients of any age and sex to levels of complexity that vary between countries.
On a more personal note, Dr. O’Neal and her husband have been married for over two decades. They are pastors at a church next door to their practice, Anointed Hands Ministry, where they are involved in Community Outreach and Evangelism in the Northeast Georgia area.
