Throughout his academic career, Dr. Armstrong graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1990. Upon graduating, he attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree in 1994.
After dental school, he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia where he served in the DENTAC (Dental Health Activity) as a dentist in the U.S. Army from 1994 until 1997. After serving in the army, he opened his first dental practice in Spartanburg, South Carolina where he had a thriving practice for 17 years. He and his family then moved to Lyman, South Carolina and opened Grand Strand Dentistry in Conway near Carolina Forest and Myrtle Beach.
A member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dr. Armstrong completed his year-long study of dental implants at Georgia Regents University and passed his Associate Fellowship exam. In order to stay up to date in his field, he gains knowledge through continuing education courses and new technology in order to help improve patients’ dental experiences.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. General dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
With a love to serve God by serving people, Dr. Armstrong is involved in the Surfside Presbyterian Church where he grew up in. He is blessed to be married to his lovely wife, Leslie, for over 20 years. They have three children, Joseph, Kingston, and Erin.
