Get to know Hospitalist Dr. O’Rell Williams, who serves patients in Wisconsin.

Dr. Williams is an experienced hospitalist with a passion for helping others. He serves as the Regional Medical Director at Ascension SE Wisconsin Hospital, where he oversees the operations at both St. Joseph and Elmbrook campuses.

As a former Milwaukee fireman and physician, he combines his abilities, courage, and compassion to enhance the health of the community. He always puts his patients first and tends to their needs on an individual basis.

Having always wanted a career in which he could make a difference in the lives of others, Dr. Williams served for 14 years as a firefighter with the City of Milwaukee before entering the medical field.

In pursuit of becoming a physician, he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, after which he went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2001.

Furthering his training, he performed his residency in internal medicine with Aurora Health Care from 2001 until 2004.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.

In his spare time, Dr. Williams enjoys spending time with his two daughters and playing the guitar. He also loves collecting comic books and tending to his muscle cars.
