Having always wanted a career in which he could make a difference in the lives of others, Dr. Williams served for 14 years as a firefighter with the City of Milwaukee before entering the medical field.
In pursuit of becoming a physician, he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, after which he went on to earn his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2001.
Furthering his training, he performed his residency in internal medicine with Aurora Health Care from 2001 until 2004.

Hospital medicine is a medical specialty that exists in some countries as a branch of internal or family medicine, dealing with the care of acutely ill hospitalized patients. Physicians whose primary professional focus is caring for hospitalized patients only while they are in the hospital are called hospitalists.
