Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Steven L. Goodman, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

Dr. Goodman is a reputable orthopedic surgeon at DocCare, a New York based multi-specialty medical practice with office locations in Ridgewood, Glendale, Hauppauge, Bellerose, and Merrick. He tends to patients suffering from various concerns such as elbow problems, knee problems, sports injuries, and shoulder problems, among others.

Committed to his patients’ continuous care and education for those who require rehabilitation, his main aim is to re-establish the highest possible level of function and strive towards the patients’ recovery. Owing to his kind and friendly demeanor, patients feel comfortable in his presence.

Founded in 1996, DocCare has over 23 physician providers who support 18 medical specialties. Educated in Mexico, Dr. Goodman graduated with his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in 1979. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residencies in general surgery and orthopedic surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1982 and 1986, respectively. 

Subsequent to his education, in 1988, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

Licensed to practice medicine in New York, Dr. Goodman is affiliated with Franklin Hospital Medical Center, Mount Sinai South Nassau, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, NYU Langone Hospital — Long Island, and Long Island Jewish Valley Stream.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
