Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Karen J. Weiss, who serves patients in Atlanta, Georgia.

Priding herself in her compassion for and accessibility to her patients, Dr. Weiss is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist whose expertise is in hormone management. She is the President of Karen J Weiss, MD LLC in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Well respected in her field, she strives to provide excellent patient care by integrating conventional medical practice with a functional approach that makes treatments patient-specific rather than disease-specific. She helps patients deal with a wide array of health issues, and offers gynecological services such as well-woman care, birth control, and hormone consultation. 

Having grown up in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Weiss earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver. She graduated with her medical degree from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. 

After many years in a group practice, she decided to devote herself to gynecologic health and started a solo practice on Long Island, New York. There, she was selected as one of New York’s Top Doctors for 6 consecutive years. At that time, her focus turned more towards bio-identical hormonal management of the menopause and perimenopause.

In 2007, she and her husband decided to seek a lifestyle change and moved to Atlanta with their two daughters. Once in Atlanta, Dr. Weiss became involved with The Institute for Functional Medicine, recognizing the importance of nutrition, rest, and stress-reduction as major factors in health.

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.

Among her numerous accolades, Dr. Weiss is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2016, 2018), On-Time Doctor Award (2016, 2018), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2018).
